New discoveries in genomics research are exciting to physicians because they can see that genomics targeting may provide greater effectiveness in patient treatments. In collaboration with the Genomics Medicine Institute (GMI) at El Camino Hospital and Genetic Alliance, NCHPEG (National Coalition for Health Professionals Education in Genetics) has developed a CME curriculum on genomic medicine.
They hope to translate the scientific facts into lessons that will give providers the tools to refer properly and the ability to relay information to patients about their genetic tests and results. NCHPEG’s video introducing the curriculum can be viewed here: http://bit.ly/1kRImfh
Lynn Dowling helped found and currently serves as Executive Director of the Genomic Medicine Institute at El Camino Hospital. She will be speaking at the 6th Annual Personalized & Precision Medicine Conference held October 29th and 30th, 2014. In her discussion, she will explore the strategies that companies are using to surmount the bottlenecks of medical practice and effectively reach physician end-users.
From classroom to research lab to practice, the conference will showcase a host of different viewpoints and perspectives. This event brings together multiple stakeholders, including payers, molecular diagnostics companies, genome analysis/interpretation companies, clinicians and many others in order to provide attendees with a holistic view of the personalized medicine landscape.
